Have heard of a few trailers being stolen recently, Anyone got any good ideas for trailer security as most of the normal locking hitches and wheel clamps etc are easily defeated?

motorcycle chain and lock to a solid object, I do worry though that a thief might pull the house down along with the trailer.

Get it registered with The Equipment Register.
Hitch lock
Wheel clamp
Chain it to something solid
Fit a lockable post to block it in
Keep it out of sight
Fit a long life GPS tracking device.
If its enclosed then paint your postcode on the roof.

You can only do so much because you can get round all of the above. You need to make yours harder to steal than the next one they see.

Registering it with TER, and the tracker won't stop it being taken but they will certainly help to get it back to you.

I have a Brian James race shuttle, I have a tracker (fore track)
And on the roof is the chassis no in reflective lettering that is a b---ard to get off and can be seen by a helicopter.
Obviously we use a hick lock as well.....

Another one interested in gps tracker devices.

I did have an old school plant tracker fitted to an old trailer, but I always thought it was quite obvious to find. I had understood that covered (TracSport & Prosporter type) were stolen a lot less frequently than open trailers which are more readily disposed of.

Wondered in the modern age if there was a better solution.

In terms of other security I have always used a hitchlock, but also dug in collapsible posts - aka motorbike type chain posts etc.

Thanks for that link but I find with all the sellers of these type of devices they assume you know all about these products and exactly what you want already. confused

Spot on. I'd also add that in 7 years of racing, whilst I've rarely seen whole trailers stolen at circuits, ramps have been offed more frequently. A sturdy D-lock or chain makes them much securer - or even better stick them in the tow vehicle.
