Cant see in blue book, do we need working headlights ? Cant say i remember ever having them checked...

depends on the series some require lights, some dont.

almpst everything other than single seaters at club level will require lights, if not they will usually be specifically mentioned in the regs that you dont need them.

It doesnt always mean the original headlight though ( again championship specific) I've always run with a couple of small spotlights in the grill rather than huge great h4's

You generally have to run them - but you can swap originals for alternatives.
