Kumho Ecsta V70A
Discussion
I have used R888's since 2005 for sprinting and really like them. I tried medium v60's in 2012 and hated them. They just didn't work for me, bugger all grip and not predictable but it was cold in March so I ended up selling them at a huge loss and buying another set of 888's. Quite a few sprinters use them to good effect especially on warm days. The sprinters mostly use super sorts and they turn into chewing gum very quickly, perhaps only a couple of hard laps before they go off. You should fare better in a tuscan though cos it's 100kg lighter than a griff.
Well........since 2008 I've had about 65 consecutive grid starts. In all that lot I reckon I've had only 6 wet races, so I reckon I'll give the Kumhos a go. I always back right off in a wet race anyway 'cos I don't want to trash my car. Last year at Silverstone I tried to race using 12 year old Dunlop wets which were harder than the tarmac they were running on!!!!! The Kumhos can't be any worse than that!!!!!
You can get the kumho's cut for 'wet' tyre like tread.... I may be wrong... But I think blackpool tyres were a kumho dealer and did this....
I've used them... IF you match the correct compound for the right day..... They are great, problem is... You really need 2-3 compounds to cover all eventualities.. Plus 'wets'
888s may not offer the ultimate grip... Bit are consistent.. And not as fickle imho

Also, Thank you to everyone and sorry for hijacking the thread a little, I will be taking delivery of my hard compound tyres within the next two weeks. I'll probably not use the P zero's again.

OK, thanks for all your input chaps. Given all the comments I've ordered a set of Kumhos in the hard compound hoping they will last well in a 40 minute race against various marques running a mixture of mainly 888's and Yokos.
Ru running in the CSCC Modern Classics ?
