Hi, was thinking about popping to Rockingham next weekend, but having never been before wondered what spectator access was like.

Any places to take pictures/access the paddock etc?

What's that dot on top of the arrow on the main straight? Have they put a chicane in? Otherwise some of the entries will be going very fast around the banking.

No Chicane as far as I'm aware. The banked turn should be 120-130 ish at a guess.

I was thinking more like 150-160 for the GT3s...

Hi Jeff, normally follow the hillclimbs but they haven't started yet!

Do you have an entry list I could browse by any chance?

Will come and say hello smile

Lol....not going to happen. The fastest will be the Single Seaters/Radicals and then the Kitcars....GT3s are a way back. Jedis do around the 135 mark on the same course. I'd be surprised if much gets over 140MPH but we will see.

I assumed that the Jedis etc. would be too short-geared for that, although presumably they turn up at Hethel with long gearing.

Changing the gearing on a BEC race car isn't that difficult as it is just a rear sprocket change so I expect the that not to be an issue. I'm faster than most of the single seaters (top speed not lap time) at Goodwood so I'd expect the situation to be similar at Rockingham. I would estimate that it will be some of the single seaters, then the Radicals and then Pete Golding and I battling it out for the first non-Aero places.

Looking through the entry list I imagine Terry Holmes will be a few seconds faster than everyone else. Very quick car that, and doesn't do too badly in the British sprint championship!

Yeap....I'm sure your correct but that thing is virtually an F1 car so you would expect it. I would expect Pete and I to be top 10 though.

Just emailed Rockingham about spectators for the sprint this weekend - as I have some that wanted to attend but the response was:
"unfortunately the sprint is a closed event and therefore no spectators will be allowed on site"
I'm there in Class 6 anyway

Dan

If you fill out the back sheet of the regs I sent you and put my name and number down you'll get in as my mechanic/hangers on

Looks like I'm right behind you in the queue then jeffw as I'm number 65!
Hopefully see you there - mine's currently at the garage with a mapping issue (or worse??).
No chance of winning class but should get some decent points for NSCC championship.
Cheers

Pete is having drive shaft issues so I might stand a chance if he doesn't make it smile

Looks a really good circuit to drive and they couldn't have asked for better weather. Top of the garages make an excellent (if windy) vantage point for spectating, and telling who was backing off going into turn one on the banking.

If I ever get around to putting my car back together, I'd enter it.
