A plan for an affordable 6 hour race specifically aimed at Clubman is gathering pace.

A club has been formed, the 360 Motor Club (360 because its 6 x 60 minutes), and there's a provisional date available at Snetterton on 15 August 2010.

The plan is for the race to run as NOT FOR PROFIT event organised by Clubman for Clubman. (Don't worry, the organising team includes professional race officials with many years experience of putting on events).

The event is for Saloons, Hatchbacks and GTs from 1968 to 1986 model types with a max capacity of 3.5 litres (sorry, no turbos).

This period has been chosen to attract club racers who want the value for money and challenge of longer races but are excluded from the so-called more "prestigious" races at places like Spa, or who can't afford to enter Britcar.

If you are interested please register with the 360 Motor club on their web site: http://www.360motor-racing-club.com/ & have a look at the event updates and regulations pages.

Contact the club if you have any questions.

Though I should add - great idea!

I hope you get enough interest to make it a success (and run another one for more recent cars....).

Your site makes reference to a non-refundable deposit?

I assume that means, if WE pull out we don't get or money back......rather than the venture falling flat?

In which case I would be looking for my cash back or won't be going near this. What assurances do we have we'd see said deposit again if you folded the limited co set up to run this venture?

Don't mean to be doom and gloom and wish this all the best, I truely do having experience of running and organising a series at my expense.

I'm not into chucking £500 away though, so please clarify

thanks.

My car would not comply with the regs as far as I can see.

Could I point out that what JP is refering to is fairly standard practice,we have no intention of "Folding",but we do have over half of the grid capacity now,so if anyones up for this 'At Cost' event, best be quick.

It is with great pleasure that the board of the 360 Motor Racing Club announce that this is now a confirmed event.

Get out your diaries (and your cheque books!) because on SUNDAY 15th AUGUST 2010 The 360 Motor Racing Club will be at Snetterton Race Circuit for the inaugural 360 Alternative 6 hour race. We have taken an idea that began in June last year, debated and churned over different aspects and views, on various forums and in private, and mangaged to come up with an event that will be like no other....but for all the right reasons.

Details will follow with regards to becoming a member of 360 (Its part of the deposit) and how to pay which will include online via the website, thanks to PAYPAL

Andy, great idea - I've added my name to the entry list. Perhaps you would like to drop me a line re sponsorship / promoting the event & an idea of the costs to provide trophies etc (along the line of my CSCC offering).

Although I'm not liking the classes!!

Upto 1600cc
1600 to 2000cc
2000 to 2500cc would suit the hordes of Alfa's better!!

Arhh but the beauty of an Endurance format is that a well prepared car with lower power can out perform a bigger engined car that may be thirstier or less well prepared over the whole race. You know that as well as anyone! And I have seen it at first hand with the TJH Honda in several Britcar 24s.

What about a car that is just outside the dates, but was produced within?
i.e. An E30 BMW built in 1989. It would be too new for that specific car, but BMW were making E30's within the acceptable dates.

I think the answer is that as long as it is representative of the 1896 model year, then its fine
