News? Any views?

Just read about how chevy were thinking about replacing their V8's with smaller supercharged V6's. If they do, could they be used by ultima in the future? Would you?

Would be a shame losing that engine.
All this global warming nonsense I'm sure the v6 would match or better the v8 on speed but it's the noise and history of it. Corvette = v8 and a pushrod v8 at that. Simple mechanicals high reliability cheap servicing.

I'm all for it I it's just a smaller displacement LS with a couple of cylinders lopped off, especially if it has a big, noisy, red Walkinshaw supercharger bolted on.

I know this is only a particaly acknowledged truth on the left side of the pond but "the only substitude for cubic inchs is cubic dollars" As long as reasonably priced LS motors are available the law stated above rules. Lee

The next generation Corvette will have a smaller V8 with direct injection, no V6.

Either way there is enough momentum be behind the LS series on engines for them to outlast me I supect.

As to what you'd be running them on, well...

As long as IVA states Age related emissions for the engines were fine. But might be just rebuilding older LS units instead of buying new GM Crate motor's.... and that's only if the Latest EU Co outputs cant be met by the LS3/7/9 motors I suppose.. So dont worry yet....

Actually if Chevy goes to a direct injection LS V8 motor and they destroke rather than lessen the bore to get down to perhaps 5 to 5.5 liters the new engine might make a really fine Ultima motor for those who can be happy with 500 horse power. If the ECU provided by GM or an aftermarket solution can handle direct injection a cam swap, head work and a more open exhaust this could be a pretty rev happy motor that gets lots of gas mileage. My fear is that they will lessen the bore size to keep a short flame front and leave the stroke where its at. Probably not as desireable for this community but maybe O.K. lEE
