Let me start by saying that when I had a problem with one of my Intrax shocks leaking, the gentleman that owns Intrax really stepped up. When I dismanttled that particular shock, which was leaking, it had alloy shavings in the oil. Do, a Ultima owner from San Francisco was here last week and he just went through a nightmare with Dutch customs to get his shocks into Intrax for rebuild. Again Intrax was very helpful and returned the shocks in short order. My problem is that now I have a second shock leaking thats 2 in 9000 miles. the other concearn is it appears that the facory has gone to a new optional shock but they do not list the brand. Car is driven on poor quality California freeways and roads, Track days from time to time. I want something that can be rebuilt, in the USA if possible, adjustable in both directions. Anyone want to share some thoughts? Am I overreacting perhaps just stay with the Intrax? Thanks Lee

Don't think they have a US dealer, but you could try Nitron. Excellent quality imo

Nitron does have a dealer in the USA: Sector 111, a Lotus and Ariel Atom vendor.

If you contact them for fitting double adjustable shocks to an Ultima please contact me directly with any information they can provide. Nitron shocks really improve Lotus cars.

This would be a great opportunity to decrease the travel of the rear suspension easing tire replacement and preventing tire-body work interference.

Nitron have independant high and low compression damping shocks in their range, Ohlins also if your pockets are deep enough!

If the Nitrons are priced similarly in the US to the UK, there's very little to touch them for quality and performance at the price. Give them the weight and droop of each corner and they'll make the shocks to suit.

In my humble opinion, the only thing broadly comparable to Intrax suspension (from 1K2 upwards at least) would be Ohlins. smile

Joop you and Harry both have made wonderfull offers and it makes me glad to be among real gearheads that care about the sport and the people in it. I guess what I am trying to fiqure out are these kind of problems why the factory dropped them and am I better off long term to lick my wounds and opt for a different set up. Furthermore is there added value in handing and ride with one of the other brands. By the way the Factory hasn't spoken to this issue and I wouldn't excpect them to. They need to retain their realtionships with their sub-contractors and saying something on this issue is a loser for them. Lee

You may be right but as a guide I can't remember anyone else mentioning here that they have had Intrax damper issues. I think Clive, and maybe another, changed theirs to alter the extended length after spring unseating issues on full droop.

Mind you I am getting old and forget lots of things.

I haven't heard of any major problems with Intrax, but I decided to go with Nitrons during my build and I have to say the ride is great. A couple of people that have driven mine and had the opportunity to drive a number of other Ultimas have commented that the ride is as good if not better than most others they have driven.

I don't work for Nitron, I have nothing against Intrax, just mine and some friends opinions. Just in case you decide not to go with Intrax, there are other options.
