Yes I recently found out that is the only way to be sure, however I also discovered my fill plug is right under the spaceframe upper cross member and basically inaccessible.
Unrelated on the next outing the ring gear stripped teeth so I have had to pull the transaxle and will now have to think about getting it modified or adding an extension fill tube. I sure wish that upper crossmember were removeable, it would make pulling the engine & transaxle together a breeze.
When I called Roger at California Motorsports he recommended 5 US quarts (4.75 liters) with the oil cooler, lines etc.
