Left hand shift vs Right hand shift?

Just in the process now of getting my Ultima made. I am unsure about which side I want the shifter on.

I am from Australia and we are RHD, so normally for us its in the centre of the car. But I am considering getting it on the right hand side as suggest for RHD vehicles.

Anyone have experiences with both? I am thinking the right hand shift will be faster, and will be more comfortable (less movement from wheel when cruising). I am also thinking it will give more space in the centre of the car for an armrest or something?

The big however is that I am used to centre shift... sooo, yeah, just looking for feedback.

What engine/gearbox combo are you using?

I'm not sure if the rod mechanism can be used with the Getrac 'box or whether the cable change can be cill mounted?

For me the R/H change just adds to the whole Ultima driving experience. I and I know others have adjusted to it being on the 'wrong' side easily.

Someone will shoot me down if I am wrong but I think the 997 box will be cable shift and I suspect you could have either centre or r/h shift but the factory sell all the bits for centre shift. Not sure if they do cable r/h shift.

Think you are right Paul. However I have same box to fit to new my build and am planning right hand cable shift. The chaps at Autobionics will no doubt be involved in fabricating something to make it work.

Hi as Paul said having that r/h shift does keep in with the "specialessness " of a special car , and you will get used to it quite quickly , after a weekend of driving my Ultima I find im reaching to the right in my truck on the monday morning
