Think it is 2 dammed expensive!!!!!
World Products Mowtown LS block designed to fit LS heads and in street-able tune produces the same power as LS7( ie 600+ with good manifolds)
You can use the same adapter plate and clutch/flywheel assembly (saving @£2500).
You can use the same alternator and aircon compressor.
You can use the same ignition system.
You can even put a carb on top of it if you want!
Block has all the mods that LS has ie priority main oiling, oil feed from both ends, increased water capacity, stronger main bearings etc.
However it uses all std parts except cams which are made by Comp Cams at normal cam prices.
Or you can run with cheap GM ecu and ignition system.
It seems that it has all the benefits of LS but is cheaper/easier to RETROFIT only
Anybody want to discuss???

World blocks have a pretty poor reputation Mark.... except by their distributors
None of my US engine contacts would use them.
The block from Comp group is quite good and at a reasonable price.. similar piece.. I think Lee uses one..

I have a very good quality (Callies, Oliver and Diamond) balanced 462, forged rotating assembly if you want to see silly cubes/power.
The rear crank snout on LS cranks (with a reluctor) is a different pattern to SBC, the adapter plate fits the hole pattern but is a different thickness and the flywheel has altered offset..

MMm interesting.
It uses std dimension sbc crank so everything should fit on the back no probs.
I am reading rave reviews. I would be interested to speak to some of the builders who have problems with them.
Don't get me wrong I would go LS or pref LSX especially the Comp RHS block everytime if I was building a new car.
I am just looking at cheaper alternatives to retrofitting an LS to an existing old type small block powered car.
I have no experience with World Products at all so would be just as interested to here bad stuff as well as good.

The Warhawk is a World block, isn't it? Don't see it having a poor reputation.

World had a lousy rep....might have improved but not according to many in the know.
Plenty examples of studs pulling, porosity, poor machining etc on the serious engine builders forums..

You can buy a complete used LQ9 engine and ship it for hardly more than that block and the required swap components (gaskets plates etc) It still cools the old method (reverse to LS's ) so would unlikely produce LS results as a sbc bottom end/ LS head combo.
Intersting thought/route but better can be had for less after flogging off your exisiting stuff. wink

I am still seriously thinking about it.
In current climate keeping as much of existing is good as nobody wants to give reasonable money for anything.
Awaiting price for long engine from US.
Oh for $2.5 to pound again!!!!!
