Twin-Turbo engine Small-block Chevy 6.15L/375ci V-8 1115HP
Discussion
Hi everyone, I just want to say “Where have you all been all my life”...
The Ultima GTR is the car I have been longing for because it cuts out all Nancy boy stuff lol.
I am looking into building my first Ultima GTR so I am new to all of this.
Guys checkout this engine out and give me your thoughts.
Will it fit? Can the transmission take the power? If so what kind of transmission do you all recommend G50?

If you want a 1000HP Ultima:
1. You will need an engine that is packaged to fit the Ultima - There's no way that Banks one will fit - the turbos are too far forward.
2. You need to go for a ride in one that's 500-600hp before you decide 1000hp is necessary.
3. You'd better have deep pockets and a lot of time to spare to get the car set up right.
Or
You could buy one that's already done. Jeff Schwartz' 1000hp twin turbo car is for sale and Kurt Dobson's old car was recently for sale.

Aren’t all Chevy small blacks the same when it comes to the gear box mount?? if so the G50 should fit just like it fits the other Chevy engines right?
I know I can have it custom fitted but I’m trying to avoid that route
. I don’t want to spend super car money on my Ultima because it defeats the purpose of buying it instead of a regular sports car.
I have also called Banks up and got a price quote and yes it is expansive but its bullet prof and it is capable of 100,000mils of service life!!! “depending on how you use it”.
They said it should fit straight in but they will have to swap the intake backwards and have a 180 degree exhaust. This means the BIG turbos will be facing the back of the car instead of the front so it should fit. My concern is that there is not enough space when the hood comes down?
I have the dimensions of the Banks Twin Turbo but am not sure it will be a straight fit.
These are the dimensions scroll down and you will see a diagram. http://static.bankspower.com/Twin-Turbo-images/TTP...
Banks said in the case it doesn’t fit they can custom install it or have parts built for it.
I have been all over Jeff Schwartz website but haven’t called them up yet. Depending on the price I might go either way banks or Schwartz but I’m leaning towards Banks. Also I want to build the Ultima and experience it all instead of buying a built one.
As far as being accustomed with arm ripping acceleration I can say I have had some sports bikes and I can’t get enough of them.;)
Hmm my pockets aren’t that deep but we will see how much it all costs at the end and whether it is worth it all.

Can I just ask, do you want an outright fast car without having reliability issues or do you just want to be a wheelspin dyno queen?
If you want a fast car and be reliable stick to N/A. You can build an N/A LSX to be an over 800hp engine for USD$20k and have no cooling issues, space issues etc and even if you wanted to put a blower on it later because of the 454ci capacity 5psi would net around the 1000+hp and still would be really reliable

That’s a good question 02PRUV
. the engine I want to install in my Ultima is at minimal boost capable of producing 800HP up to 900HP but with 15psi boost and either 100 octane or methanol it is capable of 1115HP according to banks and they are the same price if you choose 800HP or 1115HP that is why I am tempted to go all out even though I know there is now way I will be able to put all that 1115hp down. Also the Ultima classy is capable of 1000HP so that’s another issue I need to look into.
02PRUV can you send me a link on that engine you mentioned about and is it street legal ?

So if you know there is know way you will be able to put all that down, then whats the point, you are just making it more dangerous and less drivable.

Sorry dont get it.

Good point I didn’t think of the danger aspect
. About the power as I mentioned the engine is easily tunable from 800HP to 1115HP so if it is too much as I think it will be I can lower the boost by adjusting some screws and I will be back in the 800hp
800hp N/A will stomp and 800hp Turbo car all day long

.
This engine seems too good to be true 2 year warranty of the compression is lowered to 10:1~ @ 700HP
I will be all over it researching it and learning more about it especially if 5psi would boost it to the sweet number of 1000HP. I have been on there website but its rather unclear so if you have more links please send them my way.

Suki, dont meanto be funny but you are going to have to run a fair bit more than 5psi to make 1000bhp on a SBC sized motor! you probably need to be looking at 15psi on a half decent motor (read good top end and Very good tune) and maybe 12psi with a race inspired top end.

At this point crafty I’m not sure how much to budget since I haven’t put all the costs together yet
seems a little odd to me that you have come on here for advice on a very high spec car without a budget and any research into the costs involved....
surely thats the first thing someone does?
Gassing Station | Ultima | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

for the price of those engines the ZR1 engine looks way more value for the money since it is slightly cheaper and can produce about 710hp with minimal upgrades
