How many Spyder's

Does anybody know how many Spyders is built ?
And do they all have the support one can see on the sold Spyder in the Classifieds that goes from the rollbar and diagonaly forward in the cockpit ?

I'm also curious if somebody can explain why there is so much space in the wheel-arch on the Sports that is for sale (the organge one) in the Classifieds ?

Is the tyre thinner than supposed to be ?

The wheels on the Orange Sports in Classifieds are said to be 15" at the front with 17" at the rear fitted with Image alloys and BF Goodrich Tyres are said to be 315/35/ZR at the rear with 205/50/ZR at the front..

Ultima spec for the Sports was:
Wheels 8" x 15" or 16" front, 12" x 17" rear alloy
Tyres 225/50ZR15 or 245/45ZR16 front 315/35ZR rear.

So 15" was an option on the front. The car looks a little like its on tiptoe to me.

The main reason for the smaller front wheels on the Sports is the front light housing. Even with 15" wheels the tyres can rub the rear of the housing on full lock. The light housing on the GTR has been redesigned to allow larger wheels.

The early cars did have the smaller fronts, and later 16s like mine, and yes the light box does rub a bit on full lock so sometimes the front is set a bit high to counter this. Dont know how many spyders there are... factory knows, but only saw mine in Lemans this year..were there others there?

I think Jon Castle was the trail blazer for 16" fronts on the sports & spyder. I'm pretty sure that you get the almost the same rolling diameter with 15 & 16 fronts just by going down 5 on the profile for the 16's. As with Paul, my tyres can rub very slightly on full lock. I notice the one listed above though has the single large headlight, which I guess makes clearance even more of a problem, hence the height. Not how I would have solved it personally, but it takes all sorts I suppose.
