New Ign Switch!
Discussion
YUP!
I have been playing again!
I have always HATED the Ignition barrel and keys. Call me strange...but it just doesn't look right! And that pathetic key! Nort exactly exotic is it!
...so, after many, many months of looking around and figuring how I could replace with a modicum of security...(and I know it won't be every-bodies cup of Earl Grey).....With the help of a US based company who provided the core electronics....and a certain bionic man OOOP north who turned my vision into reality...I would like to announce....My keypad!
YEY!
The ally is going to covered by thin carpet, so not bothered about the scratches.
No numbers...you key in the secret code and the ign turns on! Get it wrong by one key-press and the ign is cancelled so you have to start again!

Works a treat! - Next is the immobiliser!

Ain't a key more comfortable in your pockets, than a keypad??
And when we speak of it, a keypad is sooooo 1980. You could at least have used a smartphone or Ipad to do the job with a wireless conection.
Well then! Fits the style of the car then don't it! And when we speak of it, a keypad is sooooo 1980. You could at least have used a smartphone or Ipad to do the job with a wireless conection.

You no likeeee? Me likeeee!

I would have thought it as at least equally secure as the key system used?
Not sure about IVA though...
I've been thru' the manual and I can't see anything that says an ignition must be operated by a key. My Atom never had a key, just an immobiliser and a toggle switched ignition. Actually my Focus RS is full-keyless and dosn't have a key'd ignition either. I'm going full keyless with my Can Am - Cat1 alarm, central locking (when I can find good solenoids... see other thread), latched push button for ignition switch, momentary button to start engine. Simples. Not sure about IVA though...
