Hi All

Well the BIG moment is upon me :-)

Started the GTR up and she runs like a dream - no problems except for a misaligned alternator / belt. Soon resolved by a couple of spacers.

I have run it up to temperature and the fans kick in (ECU controlled) when they should and oil pressure is good as is fuel pressure etc.

Happy as happy can be :-)

I have had a thought though - I have two temp gauges, the OE one on the engine, and one on the rad, the rad runs cooler than the engine (obviously) and so here is the question: The standard Ultima way of turning on the fans is by a temp switch in the rad, and I have noticed that this has 92degC printed on it which is when it turns on. Well...... sure one should use the ECU control of the fans (as I have done) because this goes off actual engine temp, which is higher than rad temp. i.e. by using the temop switch in the rad the engine will run about 5deg hotter then it should.....

Oh here is a link to vid:

Cool smile

Interesting rear silencer, does it still come out of the standard opening or are you modding the rear clam?

Well done.
I do like that tail pipe. Be good to know how loud the exhaust ends up being.

Hi

Yes it fits the rear unmodified.

I simply love the exhaust on the Zonda, so I specified that to the exhaust builder. Perhaps a bit of a cop out, but I like it a LOT.

Thanks for your comments ;-)

I am really hoping that the noise will be ok, those mufflers do a great job, but if I have to modify then then I will.

It does not sound crazy loud, just louder than my BMW lol

Thanks for the comments...

endorsement from you guys 'in the know' has put a huge grin on my face.

:-)

PowerSpeed.co.uk made the exhaust from scratch and asides from asking for a Zonda type exit, I had three requirements:

1. It must look $1000000
2. Must be 2" headers and 3" for the rest (planning on a 'Kyle' supercharger) and headers must be tuned lengths.
3. Must pass IVA in both emissions and noise

If it does not pass, then they will take it back and do whatever is required to get it passed.

Gareth,

Did you have to leave them with the car for a while so they could make them up...or how did that work?
How long did it take....

Very nice I have to say...

Looking good and the exhaust is special, but I like also. What happened to the steering wheel? laugh

That's why lots of us who don't have ECUs put lower temp switches in. Before all this new fangled talk of LS7 throttle pots and HP fuel systems etc the talk on here used to mostly centre around keeping SBCs cool with Pacet fans, lower temp switches, water wetter, idle settings, Craig David (sic) pumps. Ahh the good old days. wink

PS: well done on getting the engine started.

Hi

Left the car with them for two weeks.
First week measure up and order in parts and special bends (some of the bends would have reduced diameter so they ordered in these as special bends to maintain diameter. Second week fabrication.

Now that they have a 'pattern' it may only take a week.

I must say, having looked at quite a few systems, that the quality is outstanding. every weld is a work of art.

In short, you get a highly skilled fabricator dedicated to the car for at least a week - and only a little bit more expensive than a system from Ultima.

If there are any problems, then they will resolve FOC without hassle. (yet to be tested)

Basically I am very impressed with them. They aim to please and its great to see a company taking such pride in their work.

From what I can gather M1 vehicles will have to comply to the Euro 5 standards ie 60 mg/km
How this affects Ultima builders getting through the IVA I don't know...

I think this represents a further 25% reduction ie from 80-60...

Anyone in the know, care to comment?
This is a bit worrying for those that cannot get their car ready before 1st Jan 2012?????

Will the LS3 & 7 comply or is this going to be an up-hill struggle?

I have now spoke to Ted at the Factory and he had just come off the phone after talking with the IVA people which he says he does regularly.

The big relief is that Ted tells me that the IVA people have categorically confirmed that there will be NO adoption of EURO 5 regs for emissions for Kit Cars anytime soon for IVA - END OF!

So, I for one can relax a little!
