Hi guys: I have a bit of a problem, when I took delivery on the GTR I noted a leak on one of the shocks. Eventualy it got bad enough that I contacted Ultima who turned me over to Intrax and they replaced the shock, all is well. Now with 3 plus years and 9000 plus miles another shock is leaking. To make matters more curious, when we aligned the car today, after some small mods on the front suspension, it became obvious that to get our 110mm of ride height on the front the bottom spring saddles are at least 3/4 of an inch apart on where they ride on the shock body. After a very careful exan of all aspects of the front suspension nothing is bent or out of place. This suggests to me that the spring on the side with the highest saddle has lost its spring rate. Remember the shock is only there as a dampner not a support. yes the weights could be different side to side but when I finished the car and corner weighed it the car was very close to even across the front. SOOOOO does anyone have an idea? Can someone tell me the spring rates and unloaded lenghts for both ends of the car? Does someone have a suggestion on shocks that they have on thier car and are pleased with. Thanks for any input, Lee

Is it the damper that was replaced in question, if so then they probably sent wrong spec back.
Never seen a spring of this type sag like you mention, maybe missed its heat treatment at manufacture or something like?

ETS you could take your shocks to a suspension specialist and put each one on a shock dyno, that would show the problem straight away.

Lee

You could rule out other aspects of the car by swapping shocks/spring from one side to the other.

If, when you have them off the car, you measure the springs (under no load) you may be able to eliminate them.

That just leaves the shock.

guys thats all good input and I will work my way through your suggestions. The shock that leaked before is on the rear of the car so that part of the quest done already. Lee
