Pete, you need black passivate or zinc plated bolts. The normal blacked bolts just get surface rust after a few months. I speak from personal knowledge. Let me know if you find somewhere.

Pete i get all my shuff like that from http://www.richarddelaney.co.uk/

they are local to me so if they wont post, tell them what you need and Ill collect them and post to you...

If its available they will usually have it, and they are very cheap too.. As said black dipped bolts corrode, coated black ones better or best zinc or stainless.

Let me know

Dom

I think the factory used permanent black marker pen (back in '99) on mine.
Just occassionally give em a quick touch up when they start to get a bit shiny.

Black finish steel will start rusting before you have tightened the last one.

For the windows I would look for aluminium fixings anodised and dyed black.

Those ones from pro bolt look good but you may well find cheaper.

I strongly recommend alloy bolts for windows and lights. Regular black bolts will be full of rust soon. Any bike shop have them in stock.

Okay, read it all, obvious no old chaps here,
Two methodes for making metals black:

1-Patinating can be done with some chemicals available at (Glass)art shops.

2-Heat up some preferable linseedoil or engineoil to about 150degrC then drop in your common black or clear, not zincplated bolts.
Take them out after a few minutes, and you will have nice black bolts. Works also on other items. Nuts!
