Anyone fitted sliding windows ?
Discussion
Appreciate helicopter vents give an amount of fresh air in a GTR, but was wondering if anyone has implemented a sliding window setup on drivers side, like these :- http://www.plastics4performance.com/prodtype.asp?s...
Any thoughts if any good or not ? Cosmetically not as attractive & I suppose you redcue security on car
Cheers Dave

Was more for communicating / hearing stuff outside car. I intend to drive car to some of my work office and you have to talk in to intercoms at window level to gain access to car parks etc. Could open doors I suppose
Found this thread with slightly different take on windows :- http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=13&... although still not perfect and potentially a lot of work to get right.

Dave: I spent my adult life and part of my childhood flying helicopters. Some have sliders more have the little round vents. You will be suprised by how much air does not flow in throw the slider! The vents work better because they protrude far enough to interupt the boundry layer and you can aim them at your face. I saw your answer above about communication, toll booths, ect the answer as stated above is, open the door. Hope that helps anyone considering this question. Lee
To be honest probably not worth it for communication, you may struggle with one of those kits due to the slight curvature of the window, I looked into it, my mate has one on his MK2 escort rally car fitted on a flat surface, the side windows on an Ult curve both ways ? having said all that, the P4/5 Ferrari has a nice set up which I have pictures if you want them taken at Goodwood a couple of years ago.

Do yourself the favor of driving the car without the windows before gluing them in. While driving without the windows stick your hand outside and note that the cool air is near the top of the side window and the hot air that exits the radiator runs right along the bottom where most choose to mount the vents.
Removable windows are the way to go. Keep it simple and get the job done.
Track days in the USA would be a problem without the ability to signal. It is extremely unlikely that you will need to wave anyone by but you will need to signal pit in and thank others that allow you to pass.
Take a look at the USA website for my photos on how easy it is to have removable windows.
Cheers!
