Bit 'o' body reasurance needed

I am in the middle of fitting the cab back on the car, and making some brackets for the rear apron where it fits over the side-pod tops.
When measuring it up, I realised that left and right sides seemed wildly out compared with each other and so I took some measurements from roll-cage to side-pods and the left pod seems to be a good 1" forward in comparison to the right (at the rear inline with the back hoop)!
Now the body was prefitted and drilled by the factory, and I am sure they know what they are doing, and it would be hard not to final-fit differntly, however it is still a little alarming to see so much difference between the two sides. I would hate to finish final-fit of the cab only to find I have a 'problem'!

Can anyone else verify such large differences? ..Or have I put something up-side-down!

The body was not designed and built by computer so there will be differences side to side.

The only way to be sure of the fit is to work with all five body panels together. In this way you can adjust them all for the correct shut lines.

What you have is normal. If you measure the bottoms of the doors you will find one is much longer than the other.

Amazing the read about these differences. I wonder if it is a trend with kit car manufacturers and the remains of a "back yard" engineering approach of the first Ultimas

Seemingly still a regular feature of low volume designs... virtually every aspect of the body is asymmetrical in one way or another. Hence the Factory body pre-fit makes a good option if you are unsure or inexperienced.

"Back yard" is very harsh. It's a hand made body, it's not coming off a Porsche production line!

The doors being a different length is not really a issue as you'll never see it. The windscreen area is slightly shifted to the left as you can see from under the dash also not really a issue as your never see unless you build the car. But having side pods that are a different length I'm not so keen on as they meet both wheels so you might be able to see a difference as the wheel should be in the center of the the wheel arch area, well thats as long as the wheels are in the correct place..

Range Rover P38's are not symetrical either. If you are setting the air suspension height, the gap between the wheel arch and wheel is different either side.
Maybe its a "midlands" thing....
