Watch manager Simon Whelan said: ‘There wasn’t a roof as such, but it had a T-bar and a roll cage which we had to work around.
‘A car like this, it’s not the sort of job we get every day, but that roll cage had to be cut away to allow the passenger to be removed as safely as possible.’
No roof! no mid bodywork at all. Crikey that's a sobering sight, hope all involved are on the mend.

Hi
I’ll keep this brief for obvious reasons.
It was Paul driving with the owner/builder as passenger.
We had the car for some minor finishing off jobs prior to testing.
They had simply gone out for a test drive prior to handing the car back to the customer.
We will hopefully understand more when we can examine the car. It stepped out under acceleration but we don’t know if something broke or it was simply new tyres with no miles on them.
Paul has cuts and bruises mainly to his left leg.
The customer has (I believe) possible pelvis and rib damage.
The photo in the News was after the roof, roll cage and part of the side structure had been removed by the fire service.

Initially looking at the photo was shocking! Then after reading, you begin to understand that much of the rollbar was cut away by fire crews. What's most amazing is the statement that the "tree was flattened" yet the occupants didn't receive life-threatening injuries! That IS somewhat comforting and a testament to the engineering of Ultima Spors, Ltd.
I hope both parties recover fully and get to work on another Ultima build. :-)
Now more than ever I feel good about my decision to build my own GTR.

oh crap ! Main thing is driver and passenger ok, although a bit shaken up and upset i would guess.
Never nice to see that much work go bang. If it helps i did a similar thing years a go, damp road, forgot I wasnt in a limp wrist V8 merc, to much go juice and the car jumped 6 foot to the right and down a bank, just missed a tree! Just remember these are great cars but demand respect. Stay safe all!
