Trying to get the instruments in and set...

I have a '89 G50/01 2J, which has the internal speedo sender with a pulse of (I believe) 7800. Can anyone confirm the 7800 pulses? I have set the dip switches to the 7796 listed in the instrument instructions (IOIIOIOOIIO), which should be very close.

The tach I have a question about. Obviously, the dips should be set to 8 cyl (IOI). The signal input I am unsure about... There are several options listed:
Contact Breaker (OI)
Hall Effect (II)
ECU - Open collector output (II)
ECU (OI)
Alternator (OI)
Signal Generator (OO)

I know these may require some minor adjustment later, but what to get them in the ballpark...

I have also found that the wiring diagram I have does not resemble the leads/connections I have on the speedo and tach.

Speedo lead: Grn, Red/Blu, Blk, Red/Wht
Speedo loom: Grn, Red, Blk, Grey Sheilded
I would assume corresponding colors and Red/Wht connecting to the Grey Sheilded and Red/Blu to Red.

Tach lead: Grn, Red/Wht, Blk, Wht/Blk
Tach loom: Grn, Red/Blk, Blk, Wht/Blk
I would assume corresponding colors and Red/Wht connecting to Red/Blk.

Both have Blk and Blk/Red flyer leads that are not used? Provision for Stack maybe?

Correct assumptions?

I am also looking at the oil temp sender, and it appears to be a different sender than the one Stig has on his website. His looks to be a two-lead and mine is a one lead. Not a big deal, but the threads are much larger on mine (about 16mm thread). I was going to drill/tap the oil cooler adapter as shown on his site, but I don't have a tap that large. It makes me wonder if the new style oil temp sender is intended to go somewhere else (i.e. engine block). Anyone have an idea?

Thanks!

Allen

I have the Stack dash so have not seen these instruments.
But:
·The 7800 pulses are shown on the wiring sheet for internal sensor.
·Can’t help on the tach input.
·The Red/Black wires around the instruments are for the backlights.
·The green wires are all ignition switched lives (+12V)
·Speedo wiring implies that you connect direct to the speedo. Is that not possible or does the speedo have flying leads that cannot be removed?
·Can’t help on the temp sender.

On the tach output the Contact Breaker/ECU setting should be OK I think (my tacho is a bit old so I don't get the choice) pretty much whichever way you set it up. If you are using an MSD box then it will output a nice clean pulse like any other ECU tach output...which is really just a cleaned up version of what you get with a contact breaker ignition (or electronic work-a-like like HEI). The other choices are for unusual set ups or diesels.
