How on earth do you think we are going to measure that?

OK, just the horizontal before it starts to curve.....I have a set of scoops but I want to extend them to cover the opening, so just the top and bottom between the curves smile

If you extend them to the front of each opening you will greatly reduce the inlet area. I would think scoops that cover 50% of the opening (as Russ's scoops) would be the max you would want to go to IMO.

Of course you could try and fit some mesh that actually lets air flow through.
Seriously the standard mesh is very restrictive, it needs to be a larger percentage free area than it is now.

I understand what you are saying about the opening and also about better flowing mesh, but the Reverie side pods have the area before the scoops filled in with carbon with a couple of slots if I remember rightly.....
My idea was not to use any mesh and have about 3/4 of the opening covered. I also understand that side splitters would help air flow into the scoops??

Yes skirts will help flow into the scoops. I cannot fathom out the design of the Reverie scoops, they really are very restrictive.

I would be inclined to use some mesh, the amount of debris that gets collected in the scoops of my Lotus on the road is significant. The Ultima picks up so much on track its shocking. We fitted the coarse mesh as per the front grill and its significantly increased the free surface area.
