Precious little seems to be going on on this site these days, presumably due to the horrendous financial climate being what it is, our Govt and the European Govts busy makeing a total mess of the economy even worse for the forseeable future, with self-indulgent self-serving crazy posturing and decisions, and basically the middle-east imploding, with Russia and the USA finding another excuse to start to square up to each other and flexing those muscles (nuclear missile anyone?), etc etc etc....

So, nothing to worry about then...eh? whistle

Therefore I thought I would post some piccys of my exhaust progress - just because I can....and I am bored, and it give you guys something else to have a sneaky read rather than do that tedious task we all (well! most of us anyway) have to do to survive these days! ...Not that I am depressed in any way...nooooo, 'course not! wink

I like the idea as the exhaust is further away from the intake, meaning less heat in the intake side. Just wondering though if the size of the outlets are for after-burners or what?

Lovely looking manifolds. Are they one-offs? The whole system looks neat, but are the rear mountings for the "afterburners" pliable enough to allow for the heat expansion of the exhaust and the vibrations of the motor?

Oh, and yes, there doesn't seem to be much action on the forum recently (I've even started to wander onto others to get my Pistonheads fix). I'm just as guilty of not contributing, but sadly I've nothing to add. Maybe we should start some more light-hearted threads to keep up morale.

Great exhaust work - but I'm far more interested to hear why you've fitted two mortar tubes to it?

Hate to be a bore - but general chit chat should reside in the Lounge, otherwise we'll end up with mountains of banter and very little in the way of Ultima specific chat (which is what this part of PH is for).

Yep, they are designed to flex upward ish to take the expansion. I have big slots cut out of the rear clip to allow them to become vertical at full trot if needed! yes

They are made out of lots of bendy-bits all adjusted for best fit and then Tigged. Not me making it though (sorry to disappoint), I wish I could say I was, but my elderly skills do not extend to stainless work, more's the pity!

Not too old - too poor smile That's having kids for you!

Been told by the wife that I have to finish her car first. Gives me time to save up for an LS7 yes

Isn't it about time you finished yours, or are you trying to be the first Octogenarian Ultima driver hehe

Octogoll... Octabully....Octapussi...Octa... Fishooks!! I give up!

..Unfortunately there is only me & me & me in my self-build life... Unlike 'yours-in-daws', my 'seat-cover' (borrowing a label from the 1970's CB days when it was illegal - yes! I AM that OLD!)of 40 years this year, has never understood my interest in (her words) 'noisy and dangerous cars', and my bargaining power to obtain a pass for even 1 day over a weekend is sorely tested especially with an up-and-coming wedding end June of my nephew, which she has managed to turn into at least 30 trips (over that last 4 months of weekends)to various shopping centres (that look all the same to me) to find a frikkin outfit!!!! ...and then a few days later says "Oh! I am not sure about this one now" and soaks another weekend up of mind-numbing treks to the same frikking department stores! ...and I need a suit (I am forcefully told), so I will march into M&S on the last weekend, pick one, pay for it - DONE!

OK, you may ask why I go on these shopping trips? Simples! Divorce is far too stressful and expensive!

My solution is not as nice as yours.
But I'm having the same problem as you, that the exhaust runs very close to the rear cylinder spark plug wire.

Do you mean it will not cause problems?

I intend to sheath it - in fact all the HT leads, move the end coil a bit, so that will solve the problem!
