heater question?

I have a small amount of bypass on my heater valve despite having a suplimentary one fitted, the problem is I can't remember which position the under dash knob has to be for on/off. is it in or out for hot?

Out for hot.
You may need to adjust the cable at the valve end. You want to set it so you push the knob in to close the valve but the knob springs back out 4-5mm when you let go. This ensures the valve is pushed fully home.

I fitted an additional valve inline to stop any warm water getting to the matrix (and so help A.C. efficiency) but I'm still getting bypass!! I think I may fit another valve to the return hose to isolate the heater altogether.

Have you got the "H" bypass pipe fitted in your heater supply line? If not you will have hot water getting to the heater.

My "old" GTR does not have the "H" bypass (it wasn't an option when I built the car), but my heater only gets warm if I open the control valve.

The heater hose from the engine I've just looped it back to the engine and isolated the heater. Still gets hot along the passenger side luggage compartment which in turn does heat the heater hoses slightly but we have learnt to live with it now.

I take it that by "H" bypass It's just that an "H" tube with water running through flow and return and the "middle" of the "H" joining the two but smaller diameter pipe?
So that when the heater valve is shut the water flows through the middle of the "H" and returns so as not to put a lot of pressure on the valve and when open the water takes the easier path through the matrix?
