How important is it to have a dowel pin in the flywheel?
I tried to get one from my nearest GM dealer, but was told the pins are only supplied with a flywheel.

No dowels fitted to most, builders/balancers just paint their own mark on there.

If its serious power or blown you can double dowel yourself at 180' but doubt you will need it..... traction is the issue before flywheel loss. Dowelling the damper is more common on LS's

Thanks DW, that's interesting.
Mine is just a standard LS3, with GM cams the only likely mod after I get it road registered.
