Hi All

I am looking at buying a Carcoon/Air Chamber for my GTR to spend most of the winter in.

I haven't had one before so has anybody any advice?

Paul

BTW. I am currently swayed towards a Carcoon Veloce XL as it seems more user friendly.

ive got a carcoom ive had for years... used to put my classic in it..

great, cheap to run and you can put a wet car in it and 30 mins later its dry..

however when you deflate the weight of the coome is on the car..

easier with a garage the size of yours but if a sgle garage you wont be able to unzip it all the way round.

you can get some with a frame that holds it up which is alot better ..unzips only at the end.

Paul,
Have you tried these people? http://www.airflow-uk.co.uk/Airchambers/

Ordered a soft cover from them in order to keep my C43 warm over winter and also the dust away as my Can-Am will be built in the same garage

I bought a carcapsule off Ebay unused for £65.00
If you know the car is staying in for the duration then this type of bubble is fine for the job.
Personally had this "bargain" not come along I would be looking at a framed type chamber as its easier to drive in and out of.
Once you unzip a bubble the whole thing collapses and is a bit of a faff to get off the car.
I thought about using some Dexion speed frame to keep the bubble off the car and make it easier to drive in and out but in the end if your intention is to use it once a year why bother?

You don't mention whether you are using indoors or out, if out I would't buy a bubble, a frame type would be pre-requisite.

ETS just seen the price at £630 yikes for a plasic bag and a fan!!!

The car air chamber looks like a good job - Does anyone know the exact external dimensions of the GTR?
The medium one (5.2 x 2.0 x 1.8) might be right and the cost is £485 inc VAT, which is a whole lot cheaper that the other bubble mentioned!

Thanks for all the replies.

It will be sited indoors. I have another shed the same size as my workshop behind it and intend to get a couple of these air chambers. I am using the rest of the space for storage of odds and ends and some of the dirty workshop tasks, hence the chambers.

The more expensive chambers do have a frame. Some internal and some external. I want to be able to access the cars easily so am not considering one without a frame.

They may look expensive but I can see why they are priced as they are. If you run a business you soon realise that the cost of making the product is the cheap bit - oh, and you need to make a profit!!!!

Having said that I do intend to negotiate a discount for more than one!

I have one with a frame and although it takes up a little more space than the inflatable type it is very easy to use the car. Open tent, open car & drive out. Purchased mine from Hamilton Classics. They do on occassion crop up on Ebay, but never when you are looking to buy!!

I have the airflow airchamber framed tent. Good at keeping the air fairly dry, but does not keep the dust completely out - even with the duel filter. The fitted cover does a much better job of keeping the dust out. It is also a lot cheaper and saves on space plus I can keep the car on a trailer if required.
