Drag Race Special?

Wouldn't this be a heck of an engine for a drag race special Ultima. Geez... Its too bad our transaxles wouldn't take the torque. Grumpy Jenkins is one bad-azz engine builder. No telling what kind of power these things make.

Thing is, if you want a drag racer, errr... build one.

The whole point of an Ultima is that it's a hardcore all rounder, not a 1/4 mile wonder

I think the best thing that you can buy from Grumpy Jenkins is his book.

Pretty neat to see a motor wtih the things that his shop figured out would make this motor better: External water manifold, relocated starter to make room for a dry sump pan with a large kick out...

As Chris says, that is the wrong motor for an Ultima.

I agree. Wrong motor for an ultima. Its still a hell of an awesome engine though! Grumpy and Smokey wrote the books on building high performance Chevy's! Did you see the size of those splayed valve heads? Looked like big block heads. Who knows, maybe some crazed looney tune will buy an Ultima, stretch it out, and run big fat drag slicks at the back. Turn it into a funny car. Ha. Its not my thing at all. I love the all round performance of this car. You haven't lived until you throw an Ultima into a corner at 80mph.
