A Friday Fun topic, has anyone had a moment in their Ultima producing a Mia Wallace type adrenalin surge to the heart ...

Mine ...

A high speed drive down the fossway in the Cotswolds, I came up behind a lorry and a couple of cars, seeing the way clear up the hill and no movement from the cars I started overtaking only to have the first car try to push me into the ditch, flooring it to get out of the way and driving as far to the wrong side of the road as possible, I have to hit a pot hole, instant blowout and rim damage but forced to keep the power on to pass lorry, thus I had accerated to much, thus due to a large bump in the road, I had the front wheel off the ground a little.
Anyway kept it all together, but wrote off the tyre, rim and underware

Is that a special type of underwear from the makers of tuperware? Could be useful if dishwasher safe.

My biggest moment was probably when the throttle jammed wide open in forth gear at about 90 on a B road, with a bend approaching rapidly.Applied the brakes firmly thinking they would rapidly stop the car. Fronts locked, rears kept spinning, result was not much slowing down. Then I switched off the ignition and came safely to a stop.

The three skidmarks I left were very impressive (only two on the road).

I also left a huge, "Takuma Sato in Monaco" smokescreen across the road. Fortunately no one came to grief in that.

My passenger required several stiff brandies. The front tyres were nice and square. They are now, much to my wife's dismay, a rather attractive pair of flower pots in my garden.

During a blat I was approaching take-off speed when the rear clip did exactly that. The rear of the car lifted by about a foot in the process, causing the front clip to ground out really heavilly

I was then faced with the interesting question of whether the car would actually go around a steep right hander, and after scrubbing the speed to about 80, stopped braking and threw it in. Needless to say it turned in tightly else I doubt I would be here. It was the most scary moment I have had in the car.

The guy who was following me in his MR2T, later reported to me that he was having a conversation with his passenger, who said," What the hell is that, is it a car or a plane?", at which point the clip flew off (it was dark and past midnight) and the driver calmly retorted "Definately a plane" as the whole car appeared to fly up into the sky

The rear clip actually flew over 40ft high before coming back to 'land'.

While driving the car back without the clip I was escorted by a mate in a 964, he being 'my rear lights'. We stopped at a traffic light and a car full of chavs pulled up and one jumped out and tapped on the window.

"What car is that then mate?"

I lifted the door and told him it was a Formula 1 beach buggy. Chav went back to his mates and shouted "It's a F1 beach buggy"

Kinda helped ease the pain of the whole situation.

Incidently, the RAC refused to collect the car becaus it didn't have a spare wheel

I'll give them a call and check that, as I have RAC cover and am about to own two cars without spare wheels.

When I had a front blow-out on the M25 (not the least bit scary I should point out) I called the AA. When they turned up we discussed the fact that nowhere south of Hinckley was likely to have a tyre so they put the GRT on the wagon and took me home to Portsmouth without the slightest hesitation.

I called Micheldever Tyres in Hampshire for a quote on a set of the Goodyear Fioranos, they asked if it was for a Ferrari F50. They said they always keep a set in stock. The quote was considerably more than the factory charge though.

Even if I had known that I would not have told them. I also enquired about prices locally and they could be obtained but at £800 plus VAT each rear.

I ordered my replacement tyre from the factory whilst standing on the hard shoulder.

Biggest moment?
Side screen vent blowing open at 70mph. Sounded like 4 tires blowing at the same time! Scared the bejeezus out of me.
Second biggest moment...Lost brake pressure at 100mph. Fortunately on an 8 mile stretch of straight country road. Got the speed down, but had to drive it back a few miles to my shop without brakes. Got it back and discovered the inside of the left rear rim wore a hole threw my brake line. Brake fluid was all over the place.
Third and best biggest moment. Getting pulled over by a cop at night with a faulty tail lamp. Ordinarily not a big deal if the car's registered and insured! Ha. Fortunately he just wanted to see the car, but he had to tow me back to my shop b/c the brakes had hydraulic locked. Had loosened the same rear brake hose fitting to twist it down slightly to keep it from rubbing on the inside tire a year prior to the hose failure.
Needless to say...I think I finally have the brake lines sorted with a bit of advice from USCANAM. Thanks mate! Ha.
Cheers!

Being distracted by a passenger at Bruntingthorpe whilst going through the timing lights..... it wasn't for long but at 184+mph it made me way to late to make the corner and I had to fly through the cones and through the cars parked at the end.

But the worst was having my lights switch too close to the full beam button.... and accidentally switching the lights off on an un-lit backroad just as I entered a left hander at a very brisk 70mph.

I genuinelly have no idea how I survived that as it took ages to get them back on and I could see absolutelly nothing.... I moved the lights switch BTW!

Snow glistening on the beautiful Czech fields, but blue sky and dry roads. Came over a hill top about 70mph and found the wind had carried the snow across the road for a good city block in length.

The GTR started side ways in the face of an oncoming gigantic snow plow. Luckily I am from north of Seattle and could get it straight again in short order. Dian pee'd her pants though.

They collected my Noble after an 'incident' that snapped one of the rear wheels in half. No mention of the fact it didn't have a spare wheel. Was a bit of a pain though, as they needed to send for a special transporter from East London whereas I was in Berkshire at the time. A 5 hour wait for recovery...
