Hello from new guy and I have questions

Hi fellow gas drinking Gear Heads.
Right now I have a real serious 911 turbo making over 600hp at the wheels and it sits on full Ohlins TTX shocks. So a real serious piece of kit yet I want better.... I am seriously thinking about a GTR. I have some questions and I really need to find someone who has one locally to size it up. I have numerous questions but am forgetting most of them right now.
I am tall 6'5" and fairly stalky at 280lbs. Think X pro football line backer not sumo wrestler, 38" waist and 54'" chest. How would the car fit someone with those proportions.
Bigger 6 pot Brakes for the front, are they a good thing if the car was to see some serious track duty.
Anything you can do to get extra AC cooling as I have heard the typical set up can be somewhat wanting on hot days.
Are the fuel tanks “Fuel safe” or up to the task of protecting you in the event of a crash?
And thanks for the imput, I have already found this place to be a good source of info.
About me, I am an extreme-ist engineer that owns a race shop and I deal with high end race planes so I do Cro-Mo and special Ti alloys and carbon fiber all the time. If I do build one I will likely go to-far with the projust because that is what I do. I am dreaming about 800hp normally aspirated to keep it more track friendly, also it would be sitting on full Ohlins TTX shocks. I really want a full Cro-Mo frame that is tig welded as I really cannot stand the sloppy looking mig welds, but the nice fellows at Ultima tell me they cannot do a tig welded frame.

I can comment on your stalky problem, I am a big guy myself and in a canam it is not really an issue. Since the canam allows you to step on the seat first and then slide in it I would say getting in and out of the car is more dignified than in a GTR.
Sitting in the car is no problem however the standard seat makes you uncomfortable after 1,5 hour. I have been ordering larger seats for my second car and am about to install them, but cannot comment if the additional width has/will made a difference.
What troubles me a little is the left leg/foot that cannot find a comfortable position but this is LHD car problem only. I am 185 cm tall.

I don't think you will be comfortable in the GTR. I have had larger men in my Ultima, and their heads are near the roll cage, they can't get all the way into the seats, hard time getting legs under the dash etc. If you customize the seats, you will lose the ability to create a center console between the seats. The 911 Turbo is MUCH roomier. Make sure you sit in one before you buy.

These cars are race car inspired.
Have you ever seen a racing driver that looks like a linebacker/prop forward (delete according to which side of the pond you are).
I am 5' 10" and 95kgs and it is a snug fit with the dropped floor. My seat is almost right back.
Larger folk will fit (just) but don't expect it to be comfortable for long runs in a GTR.

OK any answers to my other questions, it seems everyone here developed a case of target fixation on the height question. My thoughs on that is if it really does not work I will add several inches to the roof line. Actually I have pondered ditching the drop floor pan to get the under-car profile bake then adding about 4 inches to the roof line to get head height I need. With all the other body changes I want to make what is one more. I really have the hair brained idea that I just might build my own frame out of Cr-Mo and while I am at it I would add some height to the roof line and maybe even 3 inches in lenght to the driver compartment. OH yeah it sounds like I opened a huge can of worms with all those modification ideas.

The Factory is not accommodating for stuff like that from my discussions so far. Not that I blame them because they would be inundated with requests from almost every customer. That would make no fiscal sense for them and also they have done their work putting together a complete package that is tried tested and true that can be built by a builder with basic automotive skills. Whereas my resources are great and my skill set and tool box is even greater. I know I can take this car to an even great level then there basic plans. The biggest thing I war with is wanting an all out race track car and wanting a car I would use more often as a daily driver; a car that has some creature comforts thus weighs more.
I would think your biggest problem living in Canada will be getting any car you build yourself road registered. I believe it is a difficult task with kit also.
If you want to change so many aspects of the car you might as well build your own chassis and body. If you do go down this route you will find out why car manufacturers spend millions on development!

I have thought about that option considering they are right on my North American continent; but when I point at the score board the Ultima GTR has posted numerous records for performance that no other car has touched; I am very much looking for a crazy fast street / track weapon. The road registered the thing is not all that hard in Canada...... Building my own complete car, well sure; but I am well aware of all the hours and dollars one can spend figuring a chasis out. I do not want to re-invent the wheel when companies like Ultima have already done so much of that leg work.If you want to change so many aspects of the car you might as well build your own chassis and body. OK after bunches of research and many questions asked I have come to the conclusion that likely the SLC is the car I am looking for. I based my decision on many things and few of the biggest things are; SLC is on my continent; they are very excited about their chassis and Fran seems to be really pushing to develop it even more. I am an engineer and a tinkerer so I would be constantly playing with and developing my own car anyway. I also like the construction material 6061 Vs regular steel tube.
It also seems to be a car that will fit a bigger driver better without any modification; which in the end is a huge time and cash saver.
