I was with Ted and Richard today at Bruntingthorpe airdrome, with Datatron ...
Weather: drizzle and then heavy rain, standing water on the runway,

New 0-100 record 5.8 sec
New 0- 60 2.8 sec

1/4 mile on damp track 10.6 secs.

Ted tried a 200 mph high speed run in the wet !!! with 0 degree angle on the rear wing. He complained about wheel spin in 5th at 180 mph across the standing water puddles, so backed off, I told him I would have kept my foot on it, and went back to my bacon and watched the rain come down

Gareth - you have obviously not installed that throttle pedal correctly. Have a word with some of the other owners, Y11ha and at least 2 others have had theirs stick WIDE open. I bet he cracks the 200 barrier then.

What's next -------- I can see it now Murry Walker on the Mic:-

Murry:-
And there under starters orders, the Bugati Veron , Macca F1, Enzo and new Chrysler ME4-12 are ready t go, these are the most powerful production cars in the world. But what's this a Red car has just arrived, what’s that you say

Gareth :-
"It’s an Ultima GTR" and can you hold my shopping, the wife needed a few things. (As he hands Murry a Tesco bag) Cheers.

Murry:-
Well this little British contender is surly an outsider. BANG and there off, the Bugati's 4wd is helping it off the line first, but what's this the Ultima seems to be pulling away from all of them. Oops that’s blue smoke coming from the F1, not another Maclaren blown engine, well it is 10 years old now. The Buagti's second but it's still loosing ground to the Ultima, oh now the Gearbox has gone on the Bugati again when are they going to sort that out.
It's just between the Ultima and the Me4-12 now as the Enzo is lagging behind, just yards to go now and the Ultima still seems to be making ground on the ME4-12, and YES its won.!!!!! Well would you have guessed that.

Gareth:-
Cheers for holding the Shopping Murry, fancy a trip to Spa tomorrow I have a few friends there that wouldn't mind getting to know me again....

The Story continues........

Do you think the 0-60 in 2.8 secs and 0-100 in 5.8 seconds can be improved upon or that's the limit?

Improvements could be made in the 0-60 time by a tenth or 2, the actual run did not look fast, was on concrete not on sticky tarmac at Santa Pod. The car needed a launch at maybe 250prm higher

The gear change from first for a hundred was not the fastest possible.

Oh did I mention it was raining when we did the times ....

I am sure the quarter mile times will be smashed

Damn, it would be fantastic to see it hit 60s in mid 2s. Also, would like to see the time it takes to accelerate to 200 mph and break back to 0. Then take the GTR 640 to all the popular tracks and smash all the damn records hold by the SR3. That would be damn awesome.

Presumably the figures are gained from using your car. A few details would be useful as I for one cant remember the full spec although you did tell me once.

Clive
That was very funny, especially the friends in Spa.

Thats an interesting point: Maybe the factory should 'name' each car by its horsepower -ie Gareth's car IS a GTR640.

It would look pretty cool once people realised that it was referring to the actual power and not just a boring model number.

Would keep the badge businesses going as well

Awesome figures for a 2wd car.

Regarding taking it to tracks, I think a car like an Ultima will always struggle against Radicals etc purely down to weight. Straightline is no contest but unless something is done to give it more aero grip, they simply cannot carry as much corner speed.

But all Ultima owners can take heed in that they don't need engine rebuilds every few hours, they can be used normally everyday, they don't lose 30% of performance with a passenger, they can sit near their top speed without blowing up - oh an 10k for an engine buys you a lot more than a 1.5 with 250hp

Radicals are great but I don't see the point in paying race car running costs for not a true racecar.

Eh? Surely a Radical is a racecar; very few of the guys at trackdays have road legal versions, so they're just about identical to those that compete in the various Radical/EERC series.

The Ultima is likely to consume tyres and brakes at a faster rate than the Radical because of its greater weight.

Like to see a Radical keep up with Gman round Silverstone..... I think that limiting top speed of there's may kill there Lap Times.....

But yes they may Have him round Malery

When I raced my Cateham 7 against the early 1100cc radicals, a 250 bhp 7 could over come the high speed cornering of a radical ( ie rad flat out), both cars using Avon ACB10 Formula ford road legal rubber). My original idea was to race against the new R500 and 1300cc Radicals but sense, old age and my wife got in the way .

I am confident my car would beat any Caterham 7 on a high speed circuit, and would give a radical a shock and a shakeup as I drive passed at 180mph +

...In the rain. Much faster, dry.
