Think it might need a bit more than a £3500 chassis!

That car is a mess - and that is what we can see - what is damaged that we can't see?
Having rebuilt a car I know how difficult it is to check the condition of everything. There are likely to be components that are refitted that prove to be faulty.
I suspect it will need to sell for a lot less than the asking price to make it worth rebuilding.

New chassis...I suspect engine and gearbox on a complete new kit may be the better option.
On the bright side I guess even a crash like that, if one were insured (?!!!), would probably not result in a write off. If its insured for the cost of the bits, a large chunk of which would be engine and gearbox, then even replacing the rest and a bit of labour probably wouldn't be beyond the insured value.
For example a new top spec LS7 car might cost £75k or so, if it were insured for that kind of figure, a complete new build re-using the engine and box should come in under that.
I hope I never have to test my theory though!

+1 this could only be worth breaking for spares and even then you risk the parts being ok, the wheels look alright though shame i,v just bought some!Having rebuilt a car I know how difficult it is to check the condition of everything. looking at the damage the price is ridiculous..
bearing in mind even if the insurance paid out something in the region of 50k the salvage company likely bought the car from them for under or around 5k tops.
IMO as a breaker you might get lucky and break it for about 9k IF much of it isnt as fkd as it looks.. i would be wanting to buy it at less than 9k personally.
But other people may value it differently and as they say
- theres one born every minute - .

Any updates on the cause?
With a great deal of care, I am sure they are a lot of fun and as safe as any other high powered vehicle, and I for one am looking forward to mine being on the road soon, however...
This incident is a timely reminder that these cars are 'Animals' and demand a huge amount of respect! ...especially this time of year where the roads are at the very least cold, damp and or greasy.
If an experience driver can be caught out, then I for one am going to be very cautious indeed!
