I've always wondered about using the Audi fwd drivetrain in a mid engined car.

Why not?

I like the Audi motors. They're nice and short and revvy, and the six speed Getrag from the Diesel fits straight on (I've been led to believe). I think to tune them is a lot more expensive than the Chevys though.

What ECU's do people run? The Audi's typically have a huge variety of sensors on the standard ECU which would have to modified/bypassed, so an aftermarket version would be the only answer.

thats what my guy told me...but my Gems X25 will do just fine... motec, omex... aparantly its the non FSi version engine that is pre 2010 which is much easier to map with aftermarket Ecu's.

Its a bit low in output and as mentioned very expensive to tune... unless you force it ? But at least on your doorstep.......

Bit short on performance (even with the weight loss) for the hassle involved I'd have thought.

Lovely, small/ compact, light, fairly high specific output engine.

Would like to see what a standard 4.2 engine could do on throttle bodies and free flow exhaust...

If it's non-FSi then you should be fine with your GEMS and the diesel transaxle works, though may be worth a look at the gearing chart.

How is the car, Craig? Was wondering what had become of it the other day!

Hope all's well,

Dom

How about twin turbos on the engine? That should give some interesting power.

hi dom, all well thank you, in fact very good......

was just looking at options to make it even more "european" hehe

Dan at advanced motorsport thinks he can make good power on this engine but to be fair the standard Ls3 with hot cam is more than enough for a road car.... just fancied the audi lump really..... will do it if the swap is within reasonable money... will let you know..
2nd hand value Ls376...? hehe

I'm guessing your engine would pay for a fair amount of the work, which makes for an interesting possibility?

What does Dan think is 'good power'?

If you do pull them out, would be interested in hearing the weight difference on a like-for-like basis, i.e. both engines fully dressed or weight of the car with LSx install and weight with Audi install!

Glad to hear all is well. We moved from Singapore to Houston... We'll make it back home one of these days!

you have a very good tuner in Silverstone.. Richard at TTS

he is getting 5-600 hp out of the A5 engines with his supercharger kits so its well worth a visit.

I can recomend him as a tuner as he used to tune all my drag bikes.

Failing that I know someone else with the Pulse and his Audi engine is about 5-600 hp with the turbos..

Nice light weight engine, plenty about and parts available,, either way forced induction the way to go.

Yes I know Richard very well. His unit is opposite advanced Motorsport. TTS mainly deal with joe public, advanced deal with Motorsport company / teams direct. When I was in the other day the Hennessy venom GT was in on dans dyno as it is put together in silverstone.

Great part of the world to live in and for getting stuff done and being around the right people.

I would love to see TTS develop a twin supercharger kit of the Ls engined ultima. A twin rotex supercharged Ls engine was done in the us and it worked well.

just was with dan and richard here (they work along side each other) and they liked the idea of a saturday meet at silverstone to discuss what they can both provide for the ultima boys.
Dan has experience and mapping VenomGT LS TT, LS376 along with motec guru Fraser Mckellor. potential enough interest for TTS to develop rotrex LS TS amoungst loads of other things happening here.

Silverstone Saturday meet - Date to be confirmed April?
Hub dyno dynapac RWHP runs for £40 approx 1 car per hour max(normal price £90 per hour as its race car orientated)
brunch Bacon sandwiches and tea / coffee
Always something else interesting
maybe a run out afterwards...?

i have no affiliation to either company but it would be summut to do on a saturday... if i get a couple of yes good idea i will sort something out and maybe start a new thread..if this is allowed?
