Anyone found out how e10 fuel will affect an ultima? Looks like it arrives in force very soon.

e10 is typical a problem for lines and connectors since it is more agressive. So you need to check if your fuel lines are affected the aluminium AN connectors
that we typically use should be no problem.

What about the fuel tanks. They are made of alloy which could be a problem. Think I will check with the factory just in case.

I think you may also need to change some of the seals in the engine from memory...

Well, this is the first time I have been advised of this move to E10 - the Gvt seem to have kept this under the radar somewhat!

For those interested, especially in consideration that they want to protect their 'pride and Joy', I have been doing some research, and have dug up this site which is quite revealing! It makes sombre reading...

I have no idea if there is a campaign afoot from disgruntled owners of vintage or prestige cars, and I would guess that a very large percentage of such have no idea that their 'pride' is now potentially vulnerable to premature failure, but if there isn't, there should be, as it seems from the info available that certain individuals in the EU are running rough-shod over the needs of petrol-heads in favour of using 'saving the planet' as a method of 'climbing the slippery pole of Political fortunes'.

As far as I know E10 is used in the USA for years and 95 % of the offered gas is E10.
Now it is tried to establish E15 in the USA.
A modern US V8 should not have any problems with E10.
Not sure about the older engines.
Maybe the US guys have some infos.

Here in Germany only Super (95 octane) is available as E10, Super Plus (98 octane)
is still the usual E5.

I use E10 in my 10 year old daily driver without problems and it has reduced the gas consumption.

It is areal problem for the older cars. Old being 15 years or so as things like the rubber fuel lines etc can be a problem. Not so much for my ultima but I also have a 1966 merc pagoda which is going to be an issue. I have heard that bp super unleaded doesn't have any yet. Not sure about the future.

Also Holley carbs need resetting it seems.
