In this picture, there is axle grease coming through the edge of the boot. As you can see, I put some silicone around the edge, but that did not stop the grease from coming through. What have you done to solve this problem? What type of tool do you use to loosen/tighten the metal clip?

That clip looks a bit bodged up. get new and re-fit with proper tool, or get garage to do it for you.

Thank you. That is what I was looking for. Do you recommend the same type of clip? The boot looks like it's in good condition but while I have to change the axle seal, should I replace the boot? It's 7 years old with 20000km. Porsche dealer told me it's not a Porsche part. Where can I find a new boot?

If you are removing the axles I would change the boots regardless, they are to fit the factory type cv/ axles so I'd ask the factory for the fitment type or to supply a set, I'd change the stub axle end as well.

F.C., Do you have a stub axle suggestion? Is it stronger?

I think he meant change the boot at the stub axle end.

No, steve is correct.
I was reffering only to the boot itself.
I am lead to believe the factory supplied axles are good for 1000 BHP, however I have never heard a torque figure indicated.

ETA spelling.

Would you know the part #? There is not much on the boot to give any proper information. I looked up GKN. They require car make and model. You know the whole drill (that doesn't apply to us).

Thank you for the link. Can you clarify about the 930 size? What is 930?

The 930 was a sports car built by Porsche, 930 actually being the "type number" for the pre-964 generation 911 Turbo produced between 1975 and 1989.
So "930 size" in this case is with reference to the g/box type (particularly the G50/**) in the 930 series cars.

Take care do not over tight the clip. An excessive pressure will lift the boot and the grease will come out even with the best clip.
