Bleeding cooling system

What is the best way to bleed the cooling system to eliminate air from the system? I see elevated temperature after a few minutes of idle and think this may be the cause.

I have seen posts that suggest elevating the rear of the car does this help?

Make sure you do it with the heater valve open.
