Engine diagostic software
Discussion
HP VCM Scanner software from http://www.hptuners.com/pressreleases/inaflash/ not cheap but helped me identify some engine problems fairly quickly and has a record facility. Good for recording engine knocking etc. Not sure if your VAG.COM device will do anything more than give you speed, revs etc. i have one for my Golf - it only cost me a tenner but could only reset the engine light.

Thanks. I think turning the light off is all I want to do for now. Brand new engine and have been told the light does come on on first use but now want to turn it off. Obviously if it were to come on again then I would want to investigate potential problems. The VAG.com software asks which model of VW group you have, so not sure it will work, but haven't tried it yet.

In that case depending on model of vag.com, the software that worked for me was VCDS lite, CANUSB, easyOBDII. This was using a USB based vag.com elm 327.The VAG.com software asks which model of VW group you have, so not sure it will work, but haven't tried it yet.
