On the subject of Ultima parts - Anyone have a line on a used LS6 (Z06)engine - I might as well try and find something while I am in Chicago. I cannot find anything locally - not even a good used LS1 engine.

Any pointers would be appreciated

Got my ls1 used off of ebay. Mine came from a corvett / camero salvage yard outside of philly PA. ebay user name is fparts http://stores.ebay.com/Fparts , they have motors for sale all the time. Looks like they have a ls6 up for sale right now.

If you picked one up before the november meet you could have it shipped to my place and I could bring it to chicago for you. I am trailering out my canam so throwing the crate in the back of my pickup is no problem. I only live about 2 hours from philly so shipping wouldn't be to bad.

FYI:

You can buy a brand-spanking new, complete LS-6 for about $5,230 at Sallee Chevrolet. Block casting alone for around $1,380.

A new, complete, 2004, 405 bph LS6 is about $7,400.

You can even get the LS6 aluminum race block from the C5-R from these guys!

I scored an LS6 short block with LS1 heads and cam, used (30K miles) for $1000US on ebay - seems the best place to look. There is a guy in Arizona who advertises a lot of LS1/LS6 engines on ebay - seems professional.
