The GTW has a new owner......
Discussion
Hi all,
firstly a general thanks to the forum - it was a really useful resource in helping me in my decision to buy an Ultima. Secondly a very specific thanks to LuckyP who patiently answered my questions and helped me become a GTW owner...
I have to say I wasn't really looking to become an Ultima owner but general browsing through the classifieds is a dangerous business! I was looking, in a very vague way, to upgrade my current track car (Mitsi Evo 8 MR modded to 520/480) to something that offered a different experience and required a bit more driver input. With the GTW I've probably bitten off a bit more than my driving skills can deal with but I intend to put some time, effort and money into rectifying that (and even then I'll still be totally outclassed by the car). Part of the attraction with the GTW is that it is stored up at AW Tracksport and Andy knows the car and can provide some trackday back-up as well as some driving tuition.
Why the GTW? Well I loved the looks - I'm a sucker for flared arches and big wings (cue the Evo) and the custom tweaks done by Wayne and Pete really added to the car. The car is very track biased which is exactly what I am looking for - I will probably be trailering it to trackside and certainly won't be doing that many road miles in it initially - not because I have any issue with it on the road, but just a time thing. The car's obviously had a chequered history and does not seem to have been used very much by any of its three prior owners - it was a definite source of concern in considering the car, but i spent a decent amount of time checking the car prior to purchase and hopefully nothing major will crop up.
I'm intending to get in 3 or 4 trackdays over the summer and have a 2-day Ring trip booked for August - hopefully I'll get to bump into a few fellow owners trackside and gather some much needed advice. Unlike most on this forum I have the technical know-how of a gerbil...
I will try and post up a few pics if I can figure out how...
Cheers,
Jim.

Pete

PS - Welcome aboard

Pete
Looking forward to it's first outing.
I've said this before, but my 550bhp standard factory mechanical build was like a pussy cat compared to the GTW. I could modulate the throttle for the first bit of the take off, then 'mash it' in the remaining changes. The GTW you have to feed it in until 4th!!!!! Aghhh!!!!!

I think with the GTW it should be "the brave may need a fortune"...I've said this before, but my 550bhp standard factory mechanical build was like a pussy cat compared to the GTW.
