Just to make sure I am right, please examine the following pictures of numbers on my LS7
These are ALL that are there - there is no sticker as on production crate engines...

Which of these IS the Engine Number and what are the others?

As you know Keith, this one sent me around the houses over the last week! Where I got to was.....

The location in your Image 1 is where (after much discussion) I took my engine number from for my IVA paperwork. However, the number in your Image 2 is of the format that I have stamped into the block and which matches my PWP paperwork. Clear as mud!!!

I'd probably take the number off the block (Image 1), as I don't like the idea of stating an engine number that's only present on the cyl head.

Just my 2p!!

Confusing isn't it!

The last image is on the block itself, and I do remember checking on a number of forums, and it appears to conform to what is expected, however, I was hoping that someone here that knows LS& kit inside-out, could confirm or otherwise!
Since my engine is NOT off the production line, there is no sticker (that others talk about)with the id of the builder etc, so no way of comparing sticker to stamp if you see what I mean!

Any Gurus here?

Not a guru, but I would take the number in image 1 as the engine number as it looks like a GM engine number and is a consistence stamping.
The raised number is a casting number and a deff nono would be a cylinder head number. Image 3 doesn't look like a consistence stamping. Where on the block was image 1 taken?

Keith, have you tried posting the question on the http://ls1tech.com/forums/index.php forum under Generation 4 engine internal? You should get a defo answer there IMO
I would think the n° in image 1 is the correct one as it looks to be on the engine block below a cylinder gasket (upper left)?
