ultima gtr cost

hey all,
im a first year automotive engineering major in the US, and was looking at the ultima gtr as a project. Ive been reading around, and trying to figure out how much it would cost total to build one of these beauties.
i would be able to machine some of the parts myself (i have access to good machine shops and good computer simulation programs here at the school, as well as engineers and students who build the formula sae cars every year) but would get stuff that is too hard to machine. if i could get blueprints, i could build the entire chassis, along with all suspension parts etc. basically, what i would be buying is glass, body panels, steering, brakes, and all those types of parts that i couldnt machine (to be reliable at least). that is, if they let you just buy the parts you want (i havent really looked into their ordering info)
also, as a true american, i have a spare running '64 corvette 327 engine in the garage, so that would not be a cost.
from other posts it looks like you need to order a porsche transaxle also.....sounds kinda expensive
so feel free to comment, tell me im dumb for trying this, or whatever else (like, "Sure! ill buy one for you!" :-) )

oh, another thing
this isnt just a car to drive around for fun (although i would also do that). we have a senior design project at my college and i would like to do testing with something similar to a racecar, in terms of testing or improving some aspect of it (machining lighter/better brakes, new systems, etc)

I own a machine shop, with a total of 25 CNC machines, many manual machines and all the computer support that goes with it.
The Ultima factory produce/have produced for them their parts that they then sell as a kit, which in turn (along with building cars etc) is how they make money.
I really don't think they are going to "give" you the drawings for everything that can be machined/fabricated so that you can "do it yourself" do you?
Why should they?
