OK.... got my numberplates & tax disc today, hoooray!!! Took it out for a bit of fun and when I returned found there to be about 50ml of brake fluid in the tray, which has come from the reservoir. It seems the lid won't actually screw down tightly enough and when you try to go too tight, it's just pops off frown

Going to Le Mans on Thursday, so no time to get a new one from the factory.... anyone else had / resolved this problem?

Thanks, Mark

Had the same issue today. Checking fluids before the off I found a weep and tightening saw the cap jump off!!!

Tightened up as much as I dared and taped in place with gaffer tape.

I will give the Factory a call when I get back but you might want to look at the one's in stock Richard in case it's a manufacturing fault.

Ah, not just me then! I'll try a temp fix with some gaffa tape too and will pack a bottle of fluid incase it gets too low on the road......

Factory: are you aware of this issue?

get rid of this piece of st the factory is selling, I sourced an ap reservoir and after installing that the issue was fixed.
They told me they need this because of the brake fluid switch......

So you are saying since 2004 you are still unable to provide a brake reservoir that is not leaking, without being modified by whatever measures, quite an achievement.
I must say my leaking reservoir and the spilling brake fluid has created quite some damage on my car, hence I am very pissed about it.

Thanks Richard.... so, is there a smaller seal you can supply to cure the problem? For now, I'll take out the current seal and try to find another temporary way to seal it for the LM trip.

I had the same problem with my cap. Fortunately it happened on track and the brake fluid leaking
from the cap went on the left brake rotor. End of the straight line, brake... and nice 360° at 240 km/h !

My 1999 version of brake fluid reservoir is fine, in fact I struggled to unscrew the cap the other day!

Mark if your taking spare fluid, gaffa tape, a warning triangle, spare bulb set, visi vest, will you have any room for luggage!
See you there Karl.

I had a leaking cap issue with mine as well. Interesting to know that I'm not the only one. There seems to be a problem if one screws the cap down reasonably tight it jumps the threads and comes loose. There seems to be no way to tighten it adequately. My car has all of the pans/aluminum sheets coated in black but the coating was destroyed by the leak(s). Not pretty.
It also seems that, during hard cornering, the brake light comes on but goes out when out of the corner and going straight. The fluid level is as it should be. Is it a faulty switch in the reservoir?

no verde the reservoir is only a fine example of engineering that should not be sold to customers !
And yes the fluid also destroyed the look of my front compartment.

Yep, that.
So is there consensus on what to do about it? Replace it? If so, what is the recommended part? Modify (at least to keep the cap secure)? I actually have resorted to zip typing the cap down just to ensure that if it some loose, it won't fall off and spray the pan again. Is it possible to put some type of teflon tape around the threads to make it more secure? I worry that the fluid will dissolve most substances.
Frustrating.

Any chance of a photo of this, Spatz?

Just a quick follow up on this.... as time was against me with the trip to Le Mans, I had no choice but to make a quick fix and cross my fingers. As it turned out, my quick fix will probably stay permanent, because not a drop has spilled. My fix..... PTFE tape! Having put 3 turns of PTFE on the bottle thread, the cap then screwed on nice & tightly and hasn't budged since.

I did what Spatz did. And had the pipe replaced as the standard supplied stuff was weeping so badly.

Worthwhile doing for those affected, but I don't think it's across the board?

from previous experience of these in motorsport, you need to be sure you have the space there to mount to of them next to each other. If they are too close they can be an utter bd to undo the lids. Otherwise it is a better solution if you can include the brake fluid level warning switch on it...
