Mine does!
When I first heard it, I was a bit unnerved...
Checked everything, but couldn't find the source. Only happened when it got to operating temp and going slowly (so you could hear it above the other LS7 engine noises).

Quite a rude noise... like it was blowing raspberries at onlookers!....

I can only think it is the expansion tank venting?

After a run, and after cooling, the water level in the header is always just level with the bottom of the engine inlet. I can top it up, then it always loses that same amount - never seems to go below that level...is this normal?

I think the SBC system expands more than LS. If I top mine up (SBC) it will vent then cool back to about a third of the expansion tank. Mikie says his tank is completely empty when cold.

Ha! Ha!

All the same, is is a bit embarrassing when you pull into a garage or car park, with all the onblookers, and then your car drops a big long F@RT! redcard

Well my Noble used to do this on occasion - I found it was the breather system on the fuel tank. Either the roll over shut off part of the valve system or the pressure/vacuum venting part.

That's interesting, because mine groaned a bit when I pulled up with the car hot on the first few drives, and once recovered from my initial panic I blamed the brake rotors / calipers.

That is what my initial thought, but I am sure it wasn't.
It sounds more like what you might get when forcing air (or steam) though a sprung cap/rubber seal if I am not mistaken.
More like what you expect from someone who had a rather rich curry quaffed down with copious number of Cobras the night before.

Very rude noise.. shouldn't be allowed!

keith, just making sure ...... you have vented the inside of the fuel filler neck ... through the rubber sleeving? Not just put a pipe on the outside? Could it be air entering the fuel tanks around the filler cap if no vent done?

Is the "groaning" noise meant to explain engine "farts" or other orgasmic sound tracks? It could be interesting when driving with female company... biggrinlaugh

Hee-hee...

Fuel filler is vented on both sides, and piping taken to the rear of the car (to avoid any chance of spillage in front of rear tyres) - and they are open.

Thankfully, it is obviously happening behind me.... STOP... I mean behind me beyond the firewall, so my female passengers aren't lunging to the door catch and hanging out to gulp fresh air... not that I have problems in that department (Ohh no!) ...ah said.. I don't BARP, have BARP, and BARP, problems, BARP, like that! How very dare you!biggrin
