I've noticed a few small oil leaks from my G50/03 gearbox over the past few years. Nothing major but it leaves an annoying/worrying small puddle on the garage floor. I'm contemplating pulling apart the box and replacing all of the seals. I suspect the problem is the driveshaft seals but it's hard to tell.

Seems like new seals can be had from Design 911. Found this helpful forum thread documenting someone taking an older G50 short box to bits. Also found the appropriate bit of 964 workshop manual online. While I'm in there I also plan on replacing 5th gear with a longer one from Ultima.

Has anyone attempted anything like this before? It seems like a pretty big job but still feasible for an average Ultima builder?

Hi Davefiddles

Have you a had a look on the pelican parts porsche 911 tech forum? I'd be surprised if there wasn't a load of information on g5o gearbox refurbs/rebuilds.

Cheers.

is not difficult. you can do it without removing gearbox: it takes a lift bridge, opens the back bottom and slips last gear. But in Italy 5 gear costs a lot.

then you will have a huge leap between 4 e 5 march: a monza in the straight I have to pull the engine for at least 6800gm not feel too detachment, although the pair of LS will help a lot.
controls all the steps from the gearbox to the pan oil recovery and back, as well as all the trimmings, weakness
