Speedo choices

If I recall... the IVA paperwork asks for a few pieces of info on the car and max speed was one of them. I then had to provide evidence that the digital speedo would read past the max speed. Presumably if you're using an analogue gauge you'll need to tally up your stated top speed with the speedo. They will also be checking for the correct speed rating on tyres vs your top speed, etc.
Like all things IVA, how this is interpreted & enforced will be different per test station. If you put your max speed down as 155mph to cover your speedo, then show the tester a 1ton car with 500+bhp, he might not believe you.... it could be a risk and will depend on the diligence / mood of the tester, I suspect.

Thanks for that info. I could just use a cheap digital version and then fit my preferred clock at a later date. I'm liking the Stack gauges.Like all things IVA, how this is interpreted & enforced will be different per test station. If you're fitting a temp speedo, I'd suggest you make it an analogue one. That way the tester can see it's max speed... if you go digital, you'll need documentation from the manufacturer to prove it's max reading.BarPilot said:
IVA opinion for maximum design speed of the Ultima is?
Reason I ask is that the clock set I'd prefer reads to 160mph (don't want the white Ultima units nor a digital dash).
Im guessing that is the stack instruments fitted to the lotus and vx220... they do do a 200mph option if you order it new???Reason I ask is that the clock set I'd prefer reads to 160mph (don't want the white Ultima units nor a digital dash).
