Hi,

where and how would you measure the oil pressure?

As I got the oil pan from ARE,

my thought was to use this adapter directly on the thread at the oil pan

and screw in the pressure sender.

Any objections or better thoughts?

Greetings
Ben

PS: If possible, I wanna avoid drilling into the engine/oil pan.

Seems the best idea to me. have it at the last moment before the oil goes in to the galleries in the engine, that will be the truest reading. No point having it before a cooler etc as it will be giving a false reading.

Just to clarify are you trying to measure pressure or temperature of oil ? If pressure I would of thought in to engine block . Or if near a external sauce I; e remote filter housing fit after the filter , So if some thingh happens to filter , blockage / come undone , this would show on gauge almost immediately , if its temp ? Yes before oil cooler for more accurate reading . But anywhere you put it , you will soom learn what is in the normal range of readings and whats starting to / is getting hot

Yes, it's for oil pressure.

Will it make a big difference if measured just after the filter or 1 meter behind just before going into the engine?

If going into the engine block, are there any suitable positions already drilled on a LS7?

Ben,

the LS7 has an additional blanked port above the oil filter connections of the ARE pan.
It connects directly to the blanked port at the pan in my picture and the original pressure sensor port on top of the engine.
Not sure about the thread size, will have a look if I have documented it anywhere.

Using this port gave me a better oil line routing to the oil filter outlet.
As I lowered the engine as much as possible it was not possible to use the rear port of the ARE pan. I even cut away the back part of the ARE pan and the lower part of the gearbox adapter plate.

Looks like you have a new untreated and unpainted chassis rail in there. Why and what happened?

Daniel,

the chassis was built by the factory for the BMW V8 I intended to use first.
Had to replace the rails for the LS7. They are now nearly in the usual position.
Chassis will get a new powder coat when finished.

Back left of the block above the oil filter there is an M16 port - tap a sensor into there off a remote line.

Yes, that´s the port I used to connect the oil filter.
Thread is M16 x 1,5.
