Hi all,

What's the current thinking as to best choice of battery for a GTR running an LS series engine?

Many thanks.

I just run the factory Odyssey battery and have no issues. Pretty sure it's an ER30.

Have no had an issue.

I just googled the Odyssey 40 battery for prices, which led me to this thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=127...

I doubt the car will be seeing much action over the winter, and otherwise would have put the battery on my 'Accumate' trickle charger - not sure whether this is the right type, and/or whether there was an alternative battery less sensitive to charging.

Many thanks again.

I buck the trend and have a Red Top 60. It's a bit bigger and heavier and I charge/ condition it with a ctec 5 amp charger over winter but use nothing in the summer as it gets used at least every 2 weeks.
The car has an alarm and tracker spiriting the electricity away when it stands for a long period.
I found that with a 40 there were occasions when it struggled to start. I have twin high capacity rad fans, twin aircon fans, a large h/p fuel pump, etc, etc, so lots of demand.

has anyone gone down the route of using one of the new style lithium ion style batteries.

http://www.allpurposebatteries.com.au/product_info...

1.8kg and 600CCA

compared to
http://www.federalbatteries.com.au/PC925MJT/
11.8kg and 380CCA

even if you were running the next batterie size down it would still be a 5kg weight saving.

Where's Mikie when you need him.
Seem to remember he has had the same Red Top battery on his car for over 10 years.

Optima yellow top ...... 4 years ... no conditioner, just disconnect if I don't use for more than a couple of weeks. No problems so far.
