I'm liking the idea, but how long is the throw normally? Gents who have the current throw setup?

My M5 was improved dramatically when I fitted one (for me anyhow), so this maybe the route to take at the build stage.

I have the std Porsche shift mech & G96/50. The throw is fairly long, so I'd be interested in a short shift.....

Crossram - Do you have links for the kits you've pictured above?

You could buy it on EBay.co.uk here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-911-CARRERA-996-...

or German EBay here: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Schaltwegverkurzung-Porsche...

Note the slight price difference.
£390.99 or €62.90 Wow, the Euro must be strong wink

All you're going to do is transfer ALL of the stress to the (plastic) base part of the shift mech!

ETS rolleyes Just seen Mr Crossrams post above.

Agreed, but given the short shift will only cause more stress than normal on the plastic sub-frame base, I suspect the base is what really needs looked at first.
