im relocating my battery and trying to feed through the old cable from battery to starter through the forward hole in the bulk head... who remembers is its retained to the chassis in the build... i can see retainers further back but cant see/feel forward due to no access..

The cable will be retained either in P clips or just cable tied to the chassis all the way along its length. You will not be able to get at it unless you remove the side pods.
Better to leave it in place and run a new one or extend/shorten as required.
If fitting a new one don't skimp on the cable size. There will be significant volt drop from front to back if the cable is too thin.

Not true for all, Steve. Those of us who built before the advent of "luggage bins" have unrestricted access to all services in the side pods!

Why not fit a junction box at the point where the old cable terminates (especially as all your other cables will terminate here too.
You then just add a short length of new cable to the repositioned battery.

I have one as I didn't like too many cables connecting to the battery.

Simples.....

sorted thankyou guys... looked at a few of the build sites in the end.

yes 2 p clip between fuse box area and front of car.. 3 hours of scratched arms and relocated into footwell

thankyou as usual. sorry a junction box outside where old battery was wasnt an option.
