I'm considering removing the oil catch tank from the can am and venting the rocker covers via 2 pipes down to the ground to try and gain more space under the clam to aid cooling . I don't intend tracking the car so does any one know off any issues it could cause or has anyone else done this already cheers Paul
I have the catch tank.
Both rocker covers connect to it. From it is a pipe to a PCV valve which then connects to the carb base.
This pulls a vacuum on the crank case a solved all the oil leak issues I had.
In 17K miles the catch tank has never had more than a small amount in it each time I have gone to drain it. Most of what was in there was water (condensation).
When I put the engine back in I will blank one rocker vent and connect the other to vacuum via the PCV and bin the catch tank.
Venting to atmosphere is not very environmental is it.

d that slides on your effluent and ends up hurt or worse.What Steve D said. If you have a large enough tank, long enough pipe or enough mesh in your catch can you won't have much blow by in a PCV system and the number of leaks that you have and the frequency that you have to replace plugs will be great.
Not sure about the size of your tank but I'll bet somebody at Peterson dry sump or Moroso could give you a good estimate on what you should need as a minimum.

dont the sbc need air in as well as air out?David Visard did tests way back which showed pulling a good vacuum on the crankcase gave power improvements. He actually ran a vacuum pump.
