For Stoneleigh!

I thought it would be quick and easy to build a paint spray booth, paint rear clip and refit.

At the beginning of April the shed looked like this

Well today I managed to get the silver and lacquer on the rear clip.

Hopefully the lacquer will be hard enough to flat and cut tomorrow.

I have had to give up on the Michelin tyres as they have no delivery date so ordered some Pirellis.
Hopefully the Factory will have the wing end plates to me by the middle of next week.
MOT on Friday!

It may be a bit tight...

Looking good. Are you doing the paint work yourself?

Yep.

Have not painted a car for over 30 years. Did a couple of my own in a friends old barn in my early 20's (reasonably successfully).

I have found a good paint factor who have helped choose the right equipment, paints, thinners, hardner, and prep products.

Something you will need to make your project(s) truly your own......

You know you want one. Room at the back of the workshop?

Big increase in fire risk too. Not sure how your house insurance company would view a claim if you had a house fire that started in your (home made) paint shop downstairs....

I have learned a lot in the build process and still have some changes to make to improve the usability.
However, I want my Ultima back on the road so they can wait.

Your paint booth is about 4 times bigger than my garage!

It's going to be a close run thing I think.

Had a new pair of tyres fitted to the rear rims today. Ended up with Pirelli.
Michelin don't seem to understand business. They expect buyers to place back-orders for tyres and then when they have enough for a container full they will ship them from the States. The person buying will probably end up waiting 3 to 4 months for a pair of tyres.....
Their excuse is that it is not a European size. The result is that Pirelli are mopping up all the Ultima related sales and anybody else that runs this size.

The paintwork is fighting me too. I know it is me, learning by my mistakes, but rectifying them eats time (and some cash). I suspect the finished results will be less than great, but I need to start somewhere!

Well it was ready (sort of) and I got there and back.

Good to see other owners. When I departed it was starting to look a bit sparse though.

I am out again tomorrow but after that I must finish things off.
