Well, I tried before, but for some reason, the post just got lost in the mist of time!

So, with Silverstone under my (twice), and Jim's belt ow (well done Jim), what is next?

C'mon guys, give us some suggestions... from the weird to the wonderful... don't keep it a secret.

I wanna make the most of my car before I get too frikkin decrepit to drive it in the manner it should be!!!!!

So, what worthwhile events are around over the next few months to consider going to in the UK?

?????????

Apart from the many track days.
Carfest north & south, Cholmondeley, Tatton Park Classic and American car shows.
Don't know if anyone is into day trips etc.

Some of the best memories I have of Ultima ownership were the trips to Le Mans. Because of the obvious Group C inspired looks of an Ultima. Le Mans is a MUST DO for any owner.

Keith, if you really want to drive & enjoy the car then you need to explore some fantastic Welsh roads. PM me if you want to tag along on little trip over there that I'm making with a few familiar faces this Saturday biggrin

Hi Mark, I will bear this in mind, however it may be last minute if that's alright cos the father-in-law is very ill, and I may need to support her if things don't go well!

Thanks again...

Hi Si,

As mentioned at Silverstone last Monday, I am going down to the Classics in July. Not sure if you are doing the Le Mans, or Le Mans Classics?
Yep - I am up for September. Was there last year with the earlier GoldTrack event as well, if you remember?

Will do, Mark, and thanks for the kind words.. as for Donny, well, I might try.. just need to work out some time to change my ECM, which will require some copious rewiring on my part!

H keith , we are at the classic with you guys biggrin

Biggest problem with Bedford is the noise level , 105db static is fine but there is a 87db drive by limit !!!!!! no way the Nobe will pass the drive by :-(

Indeed! I've been along to a few of their events... you will spot the Can Am a few times in their latest event video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdbpuozrmg8

Keith,

Bedford is great for testing the car - 2 decent straights, you'll hit 160+ down one, some 3rd/4th gear bends, good chicanes, hairpins, off camber corners, a good mix of everything.

Hmm, sounds enticing!!!

...and quite a few dates as well...

What are the run-offs like in terms of safety? Not that I intend to get intimate with them of course! biggrin

The difficulty with Bedford from a driving perspective is that it is very flat with limited visibility of the features of the track - as such I think it is difficult for a novice. It also all looks the same!

At least at Silverstone there are 'features' so you can judge where you are going and there are no nasty corners waiting to catch you out.

That's interesting - I think because it's relatively flat it's good for beginners. The countdown boards, turn in and apex markers are all clear, again good for beginners.
Run off is good everywhere except main straight, it's hard to hit anything, as you'd expect from a track which is primarily used for corporate driving days.

I think it's great for learning your car.
